Representative Jason Probst
Jason Probst was appointed to represent the 102nd District in the Kansas House of Representatives in June 2017. He was raised in Reno County and has lived in the district for more than 20 years.
Jason graduated from Nickerson High School, Hutchinson Community College and Baker University with a Bachelor’s of Science in management. He is an alum of Leadership Reno County, and the Kansas Leadership Center’s “You. Lead. Now.” program. He also is a former board member for New Beginnings.
He worked at The Hutchinson News for nearly 15 years, beginning as a production employee on the night shift and eventually becoming a reporter, and later newsroom editor and primary opinion writer. During his time at The News, he steadfastly advocated for the wellbeing of working families who too often struggle to make ends meet. As a legislator, Jason will proudly do the same, and speak for the people of the 102nd District. Prior to his work at The News, Jason worked as a machinist at Mega Manufacturing while furthering his education in the evenings.
He has two grown children, Erica and Mitchell, and a granddaughter, Lila, who all live in Hutchinson’s 102nd District.
Jason is an avid cyclist who regularly enjoys the annual Biking Across Kansas tour of the state, as well as most of the rural highways around Hutchinson. He also enjoys hiking, fishing, and a variety of outdoor activities.
