A late Thank you!
I probably should’ve just done a big thank you post on Facebook or something. But that didn’t seem like quite enough – so I wanted to write something here to say thanks to everyone who helped make our “Rock over Reno” a success. That, however, took more time to do than I would’ve liked.
There’s a lot that goes into a pulling off an event like this, and a lot of people who do a lot of heavy lifting – even under the best of conditions. We had to move to a different venue, thanks to the unpredictable nature of Kansas weather – and that required some quick thinking and action from a handful of people. I’m really thankful for their efforts. We couldn’t have even come close to making this happen without them.
If you didn’t make it, here’s a little of what you missed:
A friend told me this was the most unique political fundraiser he had ever seen. That made me feel pretty good. I think there’s more than one way to do most things, and I didn’t see any reason not to put on a show (especially when you have a son who can do that ⇑). I saw a good mix of people in the crowd – from young to old – and a good mix of our community coming together to have some fun and simply enjoy themselves. That made me feel good about what we pulled together.
It’s the sort of thing we hope to do again soon. I enjoy watching young talent have the chance to perform, and it was nice to see so many local musicians in action.
So if you helped set up amid the weather-induced chaos, thank you. If you came supported local music, thank you. If you donated, thank you. Seriously, this event and the turnout made everyone involved feel really good about what we’re trying to do in Hutchinson.
